BANGKOK – Thailand’s Narcotics Suppression Police have arrested a Nigerian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok after an X-ray revealed he had 620 grams of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice,’ in his stomach.

Identified as Sikosi Peter Ojiaku, he was arrested following a tip off that he was about to smuggle crystal meth into the Kingdom. Officers X-rayed his stomach and discovered that he had swallowed 10 packages of crystal meth, weighing 620 grams, in an attempt to get through Thai customs.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect played for a football club in Nigeria and had entered the kingdom six times. He smuggled drugs from Nigeria and stopped in Ethiopia before entering Thailand. He said that the drugs were for party-goers and tourists in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit areas and Phuket’s Patong Beach.

Meanwhile, a suspected drug dealer identified as Wanchai Tuantua was arrested in Chumpon province in the South for attempting to smuggle 42,000 methamphetamine pills and two kilograms of crystal meth.

The suspect said he was hired by his friend’s wife for Bt100,000 to deliver drugs from Nonthaburi province to the South.
