Greek Star Yanni Offers help for Flood Victims

Yanni visits the Grand Palace while in Bangkok, Thailand

Greek musician Yanni announced he will offer support to those impacted by the flood-ravaged areas of Thailand.

According to Reuters, the internationally-renowned musician, who performed at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani on Wednesday night (October 19), said he was so moved by the hardship facing the Thai people due to the flooding that he wanted to help and visit those affected.

‘Last night we we performing in Bangkok and I had to come see for myself,’ Yanni said, while meeting with officials in Bangkok. ‘I had been watching you all on television and it is one thing to see it on television it is another thing to see it for real,’ the singer said.

Yanni told concert promoters that he wanted to give something back to the people of Thailand before continuing with his tour to Singapore.

On his trip to bangkok, Yanni met with the Bangkok governor, M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra and helped with filling sandbags with volunteers at Bangkok’s Flood Relief Center.

‘I know the Thai people are very resilient and I know they are going to survive this and this will be taking care of,’ said Yanni. ‘I have tremendous faith.’

Born in Greece, the self-taught pianist, keyboardist, and composer is taking part in a world tour that will run through 2012.
