Graft fugitive Nunun Nurbaeti arrested in Thailand
Nunun is the wife of former National Police deputy chairman Comr. Gen.(ret.) Adang Daradjatun
Graft fugitive Nunun Nurbaeti, a wife of a retired police general, was arrested in Thailand on Saturday, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Busyro Muqoddas says.
Nunun, who has been in Interpol’s wanted list for months, was reportedly arrested by a special team from the National Police in collaboration with Thai police officers.
Reports say Nunun is now being flown to Jakarta using Garuda Indonesia flight number GA 0867. The flight is scheduled to land at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Terminal 2, at 5.40 p.m.
A Thai court previously ruled in favor of the Indonesian government, ordering local police to help locate and nab Nunun.
Nunun is the wife of former National Police deputy chairman Comr. Gen.(ret.) Adang Daradjatun who is now a Prosperous Justice Party lawmaker.
Unconfirmed rumors alleged that Adang’s ties with Thai high-ranking security officials had helped “protect” Nunun in her escape in Bangkok.
Nunun was captured on camera with another woman in front of a shopping counter in Singapore. The photograph has been published by tempo.co.
Nunun has been named as a KPK suspect for allegedly distributing travelers checks to dozens of former lawmakers as part of a Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor election in 2004.
