Boyfriend Confesses to Bangkok Police That He Dismembered Girlfriend and then Stuffed Her Head into Backpack

 

BANGKOK – Thai Police have confirmed the identity of a woman, whose mutilated body parts were found on a remote road in Bangkok’s Klong Samwa district late on Friday as being those of 24-year-old Roi Et woman Lakkhana Kamlangkeng, who previously worked at a printing shop in the area.

Deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Srivorakhan said her boyfriend 25 year-old Thanakrit Prakob has been arrested after confessing to police that he killed Lakkhana.

Thanakrit Prakob, 25, told investigators that jealousy led him to kill Lasana Kamlangkeng, 26, on June 12.

The suspect became consumed by jealousy after Lasana, who he was dating, decided to move back in with her ex-husband, Pol Gen Chalermkiat said.

He told investigators that when she had turned up at his room to collect her belongings and they had an argument after which he killed her by hitting her on the head several times before dismembering her body to conceal the crime.

He stuffed her head into a backpack and placed other body parts in sacks before dumping them in bushes in Khlong Sam Wa district.

Somkid Jaemung, Laksana’s uncle, told the Bangkok Post that Lasana had two children with her former husband before they broke up. She left her native home in Suwannaphum district in Roi Et to work in Bangkok, and was in a relationship with Thanakrit for about two years.

Laksana’s parents travelled from Roi Et and arrived at Min Buri police station on Sunday morning to provide more information to police.

The family later went to the hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine to collect the body.

Her father Mr Kaewmoon rapped on his daughter’s coffin to tell her that the family had come to take her back to Roi Et. “We’re going back home, my girl,” he said.

A religious ceremony for the cruelly-murdered woman will be held at Wat Dong Hua Ruea in Suwannaphum.
