CHIANG MAI – City News in Chiang Mai has reported that James Christian an American tourist died after falling from the rooftop of a guesthouse in central Chiang Mai yesterday.

Tthe Ruamjai Rescue Foundation, which attended the scene reported that Mr. Christian’s body was found in the parking lot next to the Lanna Moon Guesthouse in Loi Kroh Soi 2, with a camera next to it.

Police believe Mr. Christian either committed suicide or fell while trying to take a photo, according to a report in Thai Rath. The rooftop is surrounded by fencing, and was wet at the time of the incident.

The landlord said the dead man had rented the room since May, and was due to move out in October, according to the report. It said the landlord had heard a loud noise and found the victim’s body outside at around 12 noon. Another guest said the dead man had spent most of the time alone in his room.

Mr Christian’s body was taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. Christian’s relatives have been informed.
