PATTAYA – Muang Pattaya police investigator Pol Capt Thitiwat Boon-oon reported to the Bangkok Post that a 73-year-old German National has fallen to his death from the eighth floor of a condominium building in South Pattaya early on Sunday.

The naked body of the man was seen by a security guard in the compound of View Talay 3 in Phratamnak Soi 6 in Bang Lamung district. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, lived in a room on the eighth floor of the 20-storey Building A.

Pol Capt Thitiwat said a check on his body and his room found no signs of a struggle or foul play. But broken pieces of the elderly man’s mobile phone were found on the room floor.

He said police were working on the theory that the man may have had a heated argument with someone on the phone before he hurled it on the floor and committed suicide by jumping to his death.

Police have not concluded the official cause of death and are examining his phone and questioning close friends.
