Young German Woman Found Hung on Phi Phi Island
PHUKET – Maj Sakesan Boonlerd of the Phi Phi Island Police has reported that the body of a German tourist Katharina Rebacz, 26,was found hanging from a tree on Phi Phi Island yesterday.
Maj Sakesan Boonlerd said Katharina Rebacz’s body was found on the secluded Ao Por Beach, on the southeastern tip of Phi Phi Don, at about 5pm by local fishermen, who then notified police.
According to The Phuket News, Doctors at Phi Phi Hospital told police that Rebacz had been dead for six to 10 hours before her body was found.
Maj Sakesan Boonlerd said that police had found a letter tucked into her shirt that was written in German and that they arekeeping the letter as evidence and are having it translated, as they believe it may give us clues about her death he said.
Ms Rebacz’s body was transferred to Krabi Hospital for further examination today at about 11:30am.
Maj Sakesan Boonlerd said Doctors will confirm the cause of death while we continue our investigation, we have yet to rule out foul play in the case.
Ms Rebacz’s relatives and the German Embassy have been notified of her death, he added.
