US Foreign English-Language Teacher Arrested on Suspicion of Raping Female Students
BANGKOK – An English-language teacher claiming to be a US citizen of Pakistani ethnicity has been arrested on suspicion of rape after the parents of several young female students filed police complaints.
Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, the chief of the Immigration Bureau, told the Bangkok Post the parents first contacted Lam Luk Ka Police Station in Pathum Thani. Officers then got in touch with immigration police to gather evidence and witnesses before seeking a court warrant.
The man, whose name was withheld, was arrested at his house in Lam Luk Ka district and taken for questioning. Pol Lt Gen Surachate said the suspect denied the allegation.
He claimed to be a US citizen of Pakistani ethnicity who has been living in Thailand for over two decades and is married to a Thai woman. He also claimed to have a doctorate degree in psychology.
Pol Lt Gen Surachate said any foreigners who commit a crime in the kingdom would have their visas revoked and be subject to Thai law.
