BANGKOK – Two Colombians Nationals suspected to be members of a gang wanted for a string of burglaries of Bangkok-area luxury homes have been arrested in Suan Luang district.

Jhoan Hermandez Gomez and Christian Donneys Robeldo, both 27, along with Thai National Porn-anong Thabuengkarn, 39, were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, escaping with about 22 million baht in valuables, said Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn, acting chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

The two men were arrested in front of the Big C supermarket on Tuesday, with numerous items reported stolen, including gold necklaces, rings, bars, and amulets; smartphones, luxury watches and foreign currency.

Pol Lt Gen Sanit said the suspects staked out wealthy neighborhoods, looking for houses where no one was at home.

The gang would then have Ms Porn-anang sell their stolen bounty and send other items home via express courier.

The investigation found that the gang had carried out nine burglaries in Bangkok, surrounding provinces and Rayong. Police were hunting down two other gang members.
