Two Brits Killed in Thailand this Month Honored Back Home

WEST YORKSHIRE UK – The funeral  for Bob Leedham who was killed earlier this month in Koh Samui, took place today of a West Yorkshire UK.  Bob Leedham ran Something Sweet in Hebden Bridge with his wife Gemma, who was also hurt in the accident on the island of Koh Samui.

His funeral took place at Halifax Minster. But beforehand his cortege drove through the streets of Hebden Bridge so customers, fellow shopkeepers and friends can pay their respects. Mr Leedham was an avid Liverpool supporter and everyone was asked to wear something red.

Meanwhile, The body  of Duncan Whittaker who died on February 4, in the west of Thailand was flown home to the UK on Tuesday.  Duncan was a former Great Harwood Primary and Norden High School pupil and was studying sustainable construction at Blackburn College. Sheila said her son was an ‘adrenaline junkie’ with a keen interest in cycling who was close to his family.

Whittaker, of Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, was on a three-week holiday with a friend when tragedy struck.

A devastated family have paid tribute to a 22-year-old student killed in a motorcycle accident in Thailand.

Duncan was heading back to his hotel on a hired motorcycle when he was involved in an accident with another bike, whose rider also died.

The circumstances into Mr Whittaker’s death are now being investigated and have not yet been released.

 

His family were then faced with a £4,000 undertaker’s bill to bring him back home.

But thanks to friends, family and the local community who clubbed together to raise the money, his body was flown home.

The fundraising effort was started by the family of Rease Foley, a long-time friend of Duncan’s who was on holiday with him in western Thailand.
