PHUKET – Three Chinese tourists were seriously injured when a tour bus they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a roadside barrier while going down a hilly road in Patong, Phuket, on Friday morning.

The bus with a Lamphun licence plate, carrying 28 Chinese tourists, a Thai tour guide and a bus assistant, was going down the Patong hill when a motorcycle cut in front of it, causing the bus driver to lose control of the vehicle. The bus skidded off the road and crashed into the barrier, said police.

Three Chinese tourists were badly injured in the crash. One of them was a woman who suffered a broken leg while the two men suffered broken arms. Other people suffered minor injuries. All were rushed to Vachira Hospital.

Pol Lt Sawanya Iedtrong, deputy investigation chief at Kathu police station, took driver Samroeng Kaewsuksai, 34, for an alcohol test, but found no traces of alcohol in his blood. The driver complained of chest pain and was later admitted to a hospital. Police are investigating.
