BANGKOK – Thailand’s tourist police have arrested a 31 year-old Thai woman who allegedly scammed unsuspecting foreigners and Thai out of rental apartment deposits in Bangkok.
Police reported that Phawinee “Toei” Khrainunsing, 31, would advertise her services online and meet foreigners and Thais who wanted to rent properties.
After she took advance rent and deposits she removed her ads and disappeared with the money.
She also ripped off foreigners by taking fines after they did not report their whereabouts to immigration.
Phawinee was arrested on a warrant in a joint operation by tech police, the Tourist Police and Phrakhanong Police, she has been charged with fraud using a false identity.
The Tourist Police said that she had defrauded many foreigners and many Thais and losses were at least 2.5 million baht.
