The 28 fugitives are from China, Czech, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, the UK and the US, wanted for offenses including homicide, illicit drug, cyber-crime and fraud.

It was a collaboration of Thai law enforcement agencies, their counterparts, foreign embassies and the Interpol, he said.

Interpol published Red Notices to inform all member countries that a person is sought for prosecution or to serve a sentence.

Pol General Sa-ardpak said 75 percent of those in hiding in Thailand had been apprehended.

It was an operation to eliminate foreign criminals trying to make Thailand their safe haven, he added.

The fugitives will have their visas revoked before being extradited to face prosecution in their home countries.
