PATTAYA – Russian National Igor Kochergin wanted by Interpol and Russian authorities on fraud charges has been arrested in Pattaya, Thailand and deported to Russia, Vladimir Sosnov, the head of the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Thailand told the press.

“Kochergin Igor Nikolayevich” (born in 1962), a Russian citizen deported from Thailand at the request of the Russian division of Interpol was escorted to Moscow by Russian police officers on a regular flight on Thursday,” the diplomat noted.

“Kochergin was arrested by Pattaya’s law enforcement agencies on August 4, 2014 at the request of the Russian National Central Bureau of Interpol in Thailand,” the consul said. “Upon arrival in Russia, he will be charged with large scale fraud committed by a gang and money laundering,” Sosnov noted.

Kochergin was taken into custody on August 4 in the city of Pattaya. He is charged with large-scale fraud and crime-related property deals..

Kochergin’s arrest and deportation is a cooperative effort between Russian and Thai law enforcement agencies, made possible by the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Bangkok, the diplomat said.
