Thai Authorities Arrest Mozambique Man Wanted on Interpols Red List
BANGKOK – The Tourist Police and the Immigration Police have arrested a Mozambique criminal wanted for ransom and murder charges on the Interpol’s red list.
Mozambique coordinated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States and Interpol offices in Africa and other regions worldwide to seek his arrest.
The Deputy Tourist Police Commissioner, Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, said arrested Mozambique national, Momade Assif Abdul Satar, is wanted on a red warrant by Interpol as a prime suspect in more than 50 ransom cases.
The suspect was nabbed in a hotel in Bangkok, after the Interpol had coordinated with the Thai police regarding this criminal suspect since early July. He was living in exile from his country for three years, and is reported to have been involving in his crime syndicate which had kidnapped several businessmen in Mozambique and Africa for ransoms, with two of the victims had been killed.
A police investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the country with a passport which identified him as Sahime Mohammad Aslam.
Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, said Sahime had offered a bribe to the police officers when he was arrested.
He said the suspect would be deported to Mozambique next week and banned from Thailand forever.
