Phuket Immigration Arrest Russian Fraudster Eldar Gasanguseynov

PHUKET -Immigration police have arrested a Russian National Eldar Gasanguseynov, 30 wanted on an Interpol Red Notice, or international wanted persons alert, for fraud.
Police apprehended Mr. Gasanguseynov, at a fitness center in southern Phuket on Wednesday afternoon.
Phuket immigration police chief Pol Col Sanchai Chokkhayaikij, told the Bangkok Post that Mr Gasanguseynov was wanted in Russia for fraud and extortion relating to demands for “protection fees” from his countrymen amounting to about 62 million baht.
Interpol issued a red alert notice on him on charges of “extremely large-scale misappropriation by fraud committed by the organised criminal group”.
Mr Gasanguseynov escaped arrest in Russia and fled to Thailand, where he has been working as a trainer at the health club when the police caught him.
Pol Col Sanchai said the Russian admitted he was the man wanted on the red notice. He was found to have overstayed his visa and would face prosecution before being handed over to Russian authorities.
Meanwhile, An Irishman miraculously avoided serious injuries and charges after his car crashed into a sign in Thailand.

An eyewitness told Police that he saw the 67-year-old driving “extremely fast down the hill at about 4.30am”.
It is believed Police did not press charges against Mr Essen as nobody was injured in the crash, but that he will have the fork out money to repair the sign.
