Former Thai Singer “Pookie” Busted for Drug Trafficking in Bangkok
BANGKOK – Former Thai singer Prissana Praisaeng, aka Pooky, was arrested in Bangkok for allegedly trafficking more than 5 kg of ketamine, police said on Tuesday.
Pooky, 40, and her husband Cholawit Keetatrakul 48, were arrested in there rented on Monday. Chonlawit served a jail sentence for drug trafficking and been released in 2006, though Prissana has no previous criminal record.
In the raid, police found 98.3 grams of crystal meth, eight speed pills, 10 ecstasy pills, four grams of ketamine and 40 grams of marijuana, along with chemicals and equipment believed to be used to produce narcotics.
Police said the operation followed the apprehension of a man, 28, in a hotel on Monday.
The arrests followed the apprehension of Taiwanese man Hung Cheng Yi, 28, with 5.17kg of ketamine hidden in 39 boxed ash trays at Gold Airport Hotel in Lat Krabang district near Suvarnabhumi airport.
Hung told police he bought drugs from Pooky and her husband.
Police said the couple had been selling drugs to the Taiwanese dealer for more than one year.
The couple were charged with producing and acquiring drugs for reselling, the drugs seized from the couple and the Taiwanese suspect had a street value over Bt10 million.
