BANGKOK – Police in Bangkok raided an alleged fake-passport operation in the Phra Khanong district of Bangkok on Friday afternoon, one Briton, two Americans and two Myanmar nationals were arrested.

Pol Maj Gen Somprasong Yenthuam, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 5 said the raid took place at a five-storey, six-unit shophouse at 18/1 Sukhumvit Soi 56 in Phra Khanong district, where detectives said passport forgery and illicit drug trading were taking place.

Shots were fired and Pol Sgt Maj Kanjanapong Chedej, a plainclothes tourist policeman was wounded, however the biggest surprise was when officers discovered the dismembered body of a man in a freezer the Bangkok Post reported..

Upon a search of the shop-house officers found six pistols, methamphetamine, marijuana, passports, a printer and chemicals. They also found passports featuring the suspects’ pictures with different names.

A further search revealed a two-meter-high freezer on the ground floor of the shop-house. When officers opened it they found the body of an unidentified man wrapped in black plastic sheets.

Her body had been cut into six pieces.

The foreign suspects claimed to represent a research firm and declined to answer police questions, Pol Maj Gen Somprasong said.

Officers are still in the process of confirming the identities of the suspects, while forensic examiners were working to identity the body discovered in the refrigerator on the ground floor of the commercial property.
