Driver Flees after Crashing into School Bus in Southern Thailand, 14 Injured

PHATTHALUNG – A six-wheeler crashed into a school bus stopped in heavy rain, injuring nine pupils and five adults, on the the Southern Provinces Phetkasem Highway in Muang district on Friday morning.

The accident occurred at approximately 7 am, the schools bus, a modified pickup truck with row seats, had stopped on the side of the road to pick up students, local police said.

It was taking pupils and parents from Tamot district to schools in Muang district.

A six-wheel cold storage truck registered in Bangkok ran into the back of the bus, which was forced into a roadside ditch by the impact.

Of the 14 injured people, two were in serious condition.

Police were searching for the driver of the cold storage truck as he fled the scene after the accident.
