BANGKOK – Customs House Officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport have arrested a Chinese woman,  Feng Muying with more than two kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, or ya ice, worth 7.2 million baht.

Woman identified as Feng Muying

Paisarn Chuanjit, director of the Investigation and Suppression Bureau, said customs officials at the airport spotted a suspicious-looking woman identified as Feng Muying and asked to inspect her luggage using an X-ray machine at 7.20pm on Saturday.

They found in the luggage a total of 2,035 grammes of ya ice in plastic bags wrapped in carbon paper hidden inside plastic tubing. The crystal meth seized from Ms Feng was almost 100% pure and its street value was higher than previous arrests, Mr Paisarn told a press conference on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Chinese woman allegedly confessed that she was hired by a Nigerian man who was her friend’s husband for US$400, about 12,000 baht, to deliver the drug to another Nigerian in Bangkok. She travelled by bus from China’s southern Guangzhou city to Hong Kong where she boarded a Cathay Pacific Airways flight CX 703 to Bangkok.

Ms Feng was charged with possessing a category one drug and carrying it via Thailand for sale without permission.
