PATTAYA – Two Tattooed foreigners “dressed like big bikers” have been accused of beating up two Thai brothers in front of a beer bar in Pattaya.

Footage from a surveillance camera showed two foreigners beating one of the victims to the ground with another foreigner, reportedly carrying a knife, standing nearby. The incident occurred in front of a beer bar at Pattaya beach, Bang Lamung district, on the evening of Sept 17.

Ponran Chartbut, 22, and his elder brother Natthapong Pooncharoen, 24, sustained severe bruising to the body.

The grandmother of the two victims, Supreeya Kongkhan, 47, a food vendor, brought the case to the attention of local reporters on Thursday after filing a complaint with police.

Mr Ponran said he had been having a meal at his home after helping his grandmother at her market stall. While eating, he saw a black pickup truck with a Bangkok license plate chasing a Thai man running along the road that went passed his home at the housing estate.

Mr Ponran said the pickup hit his motorcycle, which was parked in front of the house, and did not stop.

He and two friends chased after the pickup on another motorcycle and found it parked in front of a beer bar at the entrance to the housing estate.

Four foreigners “dressed like big bikers” emerged from the bar. Three of the alleged bikers assaulted him and his friends and the other, who had a knife, stood nearby, said Mr Ponran.

Mr Natthapong said he arrived soon after and tried to intervene, but was punched and fell to the ground, Thai media reported.

Mrs Supreeya said she sent her grandsons to a nearby hospital for treatment and filed a complaint with police. She also gave police images taken from CCTV footage as evidence.

She had turned to the media for help because she feared the foreigners might flee the country.
