Briton Andrew McLaren, Charged after Killing Street Vendor with Honda Jazz

 

SATTAHIP – British National Andrew McLaren, 67, has been arrested amid claims he caused a high-speed car crash which resulted in the death of a roadside noodle seller in Pattaya.

Police Inspector Pichitpong Yodpikul said Mr. McLaren, was to blame for the death of Dul Libbao, 46, who was struck by a car in the Sattahip District, in Thailand’s Chonburi province.

According to officers, witnesses reported seeing the Andrew McLaren’s Honda Jazz travelling at high speed before hitting Mr Libbao, who was crossing the road.

Inspector Yodpikul said Ms. Dul Libbao’s body travelled more than 50 yards from the scene of impact.

Mr. McLaren has been charged with reckless driving and causing death.

In other Pattaya News, a Canadian man alarmed bystanders after slitting his wrist in front of his girlfriend after she declined to get back together with him.

Police and rescue workers received a report of a foreigner running amok with self-inflicted wounds in front of the Habibi phone shop in Soi Pattaya 16 in Bang Lamung district at 3am Saturday, Khaosod reported.

Police found the 44 year old Canadian man bleeding heavily from a deep cut on his right wrist, which had caused panic among people nearby.

Police managed to subdue the man so that paramedics could perform first aid before taking him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Police collected a pocket knife at the scene.

Police said the man had discovered his Uzbek girlfriend sitting with another man at a bar nearby and tried unsuccessfully to persuade her to continue their relationship. The Canadian then pulled out a pocket knife, slit his wrist and ran from the bar before bystanders alerted the police.

In Udon Thani a group of British thugs allegedly assaulted two French men in front of the Last Bar on Sampantamit Road in Mak Khaeng district at around 1:30 am.

Police report, officers found two victims with injuries on their faces and bodies. One of them had lost his front teeth. Police have identified the victims as French nationals named Vivian and Guillaume.

According to Khaosod, a British crashed his motorcycle into Vivian’s motorbike, which was parked in front of the bar, knocking the vehicle on the road. Vivian then reportedly shouted at the British man to be careful, but the Briton called “4-5” other men who were also drinking at the bar to attack Vivian and Guillaume.

Police officers found two victims with injuries on their faces and bodies. One of them had lost his front teeth. Police have identified the victims as French Nationals named Vivian and Guillaume.

The attackers left the scene prior to police arriving.

Police were told by locals that the group of British Thugs occasionally bullied other foreigners in the area.
