KOH TAO – Police Lt Col Napha Senathip, an investigative officer at Koh Tao Police Station has reported that 26-year-old British National, Luke Miller was found dead in a hotel swimming pool by cleaning staff after ‘taking a plunge from the top of a nearby DJ booth whilst ‘heavily drunk’.

Lt Col Napha Senathip said they believe Mr Miller climbed onto the roof of the booth – cutting his face on barbed wire in the process – before jumping off and hitting his head on the swimming pool floor. Police do not believe any foul play was involved.

Footage recovered from CCTV cameras at the hotel lead Police to believe Mr Miller was ‘heavily drunk’ before his death, however station chief Police Lt Col Chokechai Sutthimek said he’s not sure whether the tourist was indeed intoxicated. That is why we sent him for an autopsy in Surat Thani, to find out what really happened.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out on the mainland and an investigations into the death continue with further CCTV footage being examined.

A crowdfunding page has been set up to help repatriate Mr Miller as messages of condolence continue to pour in. Some £3900 has already been raised out of a target of £5000 on the Go Fund Me page at https://www.gofundme.com/jar84z4s.
