Australian Fund Raiser Andrew Cadigan’s Family Ask for Help
The North Avoca 31-year-old known as ‘Cad’ was involved in a motor scooter accident in Thailand last week and is unconscious in a stable condition at Maharaj Hospital, Chiang Mai.
It is only a month since Mr Cadigan completed his huge 15,000km, 18-month trek around Australia to raise funds for the Cancer Council and Leukaemia Foundation in memory of his friend Chris Simpson.
Andrew’s father Neil has been updating friends and family on Facebook.
He thanked everyone for their love and support but asked for privacy during this difficult time in their lives.
“Unfortunately, after waiting to see whether he would get through the first few days and coming to grips with the situation, I have to advise that Andrew’s diagnosis is that he suffered permanent severe damage from the brain trauma suffered in the collision,” Mr Cadigan said.
“So we have essentially lost the Cad we know.”
Friends have expressed their devastation at the news on his Facebook page.
Given the increasing costs relating to medical bills, and the potential costs associated with bringing Andrew home to Australia, and his future care, the Cadigan family are seeking donations.
If you are able to help in the appeal, you can donate at any Commonwealth Bank.
A trust account has been set up for Mr Andrew Cadigan at the Commonwealth Bank:
