BANGKOK – Suvarnabhumi International Airport’s Customs Bureau has seized more than 2 kilograms of cocaine, worth up to 8 million baht.

According to the airport’s Customs, it has apprehended a South African Johannes Ben Botha, 34 and confiscated more than 2 kgs of cocaine hidden in his luggage. Authorities said that Mr. Botha confessed to his crime, saying he had been hired by a Nigerian man who had paid him 15,000 baht as part of the payment to smuggle the illicit drug into the kingdom and hand it to another Nigerian man in Bangkok, adding that upon the delivery, he would receive another 45,000 baht.

The man will be taken into custody for further investigation and legal charges will be brought against him.
