Dennis Tagga arrested for assault in Pattaya

PATTAYA -Dutch tourist Dennis Tagga, a 25-year-old tourist from the Netherlands was arrested in Jomtien Beach last night after assaulting several waitresses and a police officer after a drug inducted rage.

Yaowathida Chantho, a 38-year-old waitress at Aroi Dee Restaurant, said Tagga “looked like he was high on something” when he entered the restaurant.

According to the Khaosod News, Yaowathida asked him what he wanted to order, but he refused to speak to anyone and simply sat on his seat, minutes later, he reportedly started throwing tables and chairs at waitresses in the restaurant.

Pol.Lt. Sarayuth Saengpetch, was directing traffic in the area when he heard the commotion and tried to stop Tagga, but the dutchman started attacking him and punched him in the face.

Twenty police officers responded to the call and arrested Tagga (Video). It is unclear whether he faces any charges.

Sanong Boonpanya, the manager of the hotel where Tagga had been staying reported to police that Tagga also went on a rampage and damaged property at the hotel. He eventually jumped from the window on the third floor and ran off, Sanong said.

Meanwhile the Khaosod also reported that a motorcyclist allegedly mugged a 51-year-old Chinese tourist in Pattaya, stealing an estimated 50,000 baht worth of her belongings.

The Chinese woman told police via an interpreter that the thief approached her on a motorcycle at around midnight while she was walking near Soi 16/3 in Pattaya, a resort town east of Bangkok with a high crime rate.
