23 Year-Old Chinese Student Found Dead in Her Dormitory Bathroom in Northeastern Thailand

KHON KAEN – Tourist Police in Northeastern Thailand have reported that a female Chinese student at Khon Kaen University was found dead in her dormitory room on Sunday morning.

Pol Lt Col Nacharot Kaewphet, a duty officer at the provincial tourist police headquarters, said police investigators and doctors rushed to the dormitory at Ban Non Muang in tambon Sila after being informed of the student’s death.

The student’s body was found in the bathroom of room No 2607. Documents found in the room identified her as Liu Rong, 23, from China’s Yunnan province.

An examination by forensic doctors from Srinakarind Hospital, revealed no traces of a struggle, and the room had not been ransacked in a robbery. No weapons were found. Only some packages of cosmetic medicine were recovered.

Police were investigating to establish the cause of her death.

The student’s death was reported to the Chinese consulate in Khon Kaen, the Chinese embassy in Thailand, the Immigration Police Bureau and the Royal Thai Police’s Foreign Affairs Division.
