KOH CHANG – Pol Lt Ronarong Buayen, a police officer from Koh Chang Provincial Police Station informed reporters that 19-year-old British National Bryony Freestone, drowned at the beach in front of the KC Grande Resort & Spa, on the west coast of the island.
Pol Lt Ronarong Buayen said when police and rescue volunteers arrived on the scene, they found Bryony Freestone, 19, lying unconscious on the beach.
She was taken to the International Clinic in Koh Chang, but doctors were unable to save the life of the young tourist. Ms Freestone was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at the clinic.
Her death came one day after a German tourist drowned off the coast of the same island. Christoph Ralf Sigloch, 55, died after getting into difficulties in the sea off Khlong Phrao beach.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British National who sadly died in Thailand on 14 August.”
Meanwhile, Russian National Sergey Medelin drowned while swimming in Patpong Phuket, lifeguard chief Uten Singsom said when we arrived, we had difficulties locating the man as the waves were very high, and the man was floating face down in the water which made it hard to spot him.
When we eventually pulled him to the shore, he had already been unconscious for several minutes. Immediate resuscitation attempts could not save the life and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Patong Hospital.
