CHIANG MAI – The Northern Rainmaking Operations Center is preparing measures to relieve the region of the persistent haze and drought, when conditions are right to create artificial rain.

Officials from agencies in the region continue to monitor weather conditions to plan rainmaking operations, as aircraft and helicopters also make aerial surveys for signs of forest fires.

Northern Rainmaking Operations Center Director Rangsan Busamuang, said today that high pressure in the norther region is keeping moisture in the air relatively low.

This occurrence coupled with strong winds makes the current atmosphere unsuitable for rainmaking. However, authorities have readied rainmaking operations and will continue to monitor weather conditions to ascertain the proper time to launch operations.
