Thai Army and Australian Army Train in Chiangrai

The 3-day program consisted of day and night-time military activities

CHIANGRAI TIMES – Lieutenant colonel Suchin Subsin of the 3rd Infantry Battalion and the 17th Infantry Regiment lead the Thai-Australian Army training program called Chapel Gold2011 with field training exercises in the 17th Infantry Regiment of the Mae Suai district of Chiang Rai province. With a total of two Thai squadrons and one Australian Squadron , the exercises comprised of 10 kilometer ground patrolling, enemy scavenger drills, and environmental ground control. Futhermore, the 3-day program consisted of day and night-time military activities.

The Thai Army and Australian Army had joined hands to open a field training program called Chapel Gold 2011 in a specially contained area at Doi Wawi in Mae Suai district, Chiang Rai province. Both armies had exchanged knowledge and experiences of tactical know-how/procedures for tackling conflicts in the South. The special training had benefited both armies as well as shedding light on the military profession.

Importantly, the training intends to develop the military personnel of the regiment as well as to strengthen both the Thai and Australian army forces. The sharing of knowledge and tactics of warfare also aims to enhance the military profession and build further and stronger relations of the two countries.
