CHIANG RAI – Police have shot and killed two drug dealers after they opened fire on police during a drug deal bust in Mae Fah Luang area of Chiang Rai, seizing 600 thousand Methamphetamine pills.

According to City News, Police officials reported that the received a tip off that the two individuals were distributing the Methamphetamine’s in the Mae Fah Luang area of Chiang Rai, and were scheduled to deliver the Methamphetamine pills to another person at the Esso gas station in Pa Sang.

Police officials in Chiang Rai Mae Fah Luang district stated they observed the drug deal before storming the gas station, where upon one of the two suspects opened fire on the Police with his handgun, but was soon shot and killed at the scene.

The second suspect tried to escape in his car causing a moving gun battle on the road towards Baan Ta Ton Fan before the dealer threw a grenade out of his car at police, the explosion missed the police and the drug runner was shot and killed.

Police believe the drug runners to be from a local hill-tribe community and are investigating further.
