PHAYAO – The acting director of Ban San Khwang Primary School, shot himself dead on Thursday after being unable to settle a case in which he was accused of sexually abusing a pupil since late last year.

Mr. Mongkhol Fongkhampoei, 53, was found dead with a 9mm pistol in his right hand and a bullet exit hole on the left side of his head.

He was lying in a pool of blood in the compound of his house in tambon Sri Thoi of Mae Chai district.

On Thursday morning, Mongkhol Fongkhampoei, the acting director of local Ban San Khwang School, went to Mae Chai police station to negotiate with a 51-year-old woman who had filed a complaint accusing him of sexually abusing a pupil.

The abuse had allegedly occurred from late last year to last month.

No compromise could be reached, Mr. Mongkhol Fongkhampoei then returned home and took his life.
