More than 1600 Cyclist Attend “Spin to Doi Tung Phra That” to Help Promote Chiang Rai as a Bicycle Friendly Province

CHIANG RAI Dr. Chiang Rai Public Health Official, Dr. Tossathep Boonthong, and Pan Nai District Public Health Official, Pajon Jaikla, as President of the Chiang Rai cycling network, chaired the launching of “Spin to Doi Tung Phra That” to promote Chiang Rai as a bicycle friendly province.

More than 1600 cyclists show their power by cycling from Doi Tung Bus Terminal, Mae Rai, Mae Chan, Chiang Rai to Doi Tung the highest point of Doi Nang Mountain a total distance of about 23 kilometers.

The 1600 cyclists rode the rough rain and fog to the highest point of Doi Tung at over 1,000 meters above sea level.

The first to arrive was Saksit Wongthanateerakul, who took 1 hour 7 minutes and 32 seconds. He commented on the beauty of the route and that his ride was enhanced by the presence of a light fog and drizzling rain. He commended his other riders for not allowing the less than favorable weather to deter them from their goal.

Pajon explained the event was to promote Chiang Rai as a cycling city and a destination for health tourism while also raising awareness for environmentalism.
