CHIANG RAI – Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang said on Tuesday that a 37-year-old Hmong woman, has been arrested for luring a 16 year-old Laotian girl in forced prostitution.
Ms. Maiv Pai Ntshua Nplaim, 37 was arrested on a warrant for luring a 16-year-old Laotian girl with a promise job at a fried chicken shop but then coercing her into forced prostitution at a karaoke bar in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district.
The young Laotian girl was finally helped after managing to flee from the house where she was being detained and contacting her mother in Laos via Facebook, who then contacted the authorities.
The Hmong woman faces seven charges, including human trafficking by reaping benefits from prostitution of a girl under 18, procuring a minor under 18 into prostitution and illegal detention, Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang said on Tuesday.
