Heavy Rain Warning for North

These weather conditions are forecast to linger from Friday until Monay

 

The Meteorological Department issued a fourth weather report on Friday, warning almost all parts of the country of possible consequences of the torrential rain that will continue until next week.

A moderate monsoon trough was crawling through the North, Central, East, lower Northeast regions and causing continual torrential rain in the upper and middle parts of Thailand. In the South the active monsoon was triggering heavy rain and strong winds across the region.

These weather conditions are forecaste to linger from Friday until Monday and 15 provinces in these regions are being warned to brace for possible flooding — Mae Hong Sona, Chiang Ri, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

High sea waves of between 2m and 3m are expected in the Andaman Sea during this same period.

In Lamphun, the heavy rain that had continued overnight from Thursday night to early Friday morning has resulted in a landslide at Doi Khun Tan Mountain. A large dirtslide has covered about 20m of railway line in Mae Tha district, leading to the suspension of train services between Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
