CHIANG RAI – Public Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the 12 boys and their football coach rescued from Tham Luang cave complex are in good condition with some still receiving medication for lung infections.

Dr. Thongchai Lertwilairatanapong, inspector-general of the ministry, said the 13 who arrived at Chiang Rai’s Prachanukroh Hospital were eating normal food, with no sign of a fever.

He said families of both groups, 13 were allowed to visit them in their patient rooms but were required to wear protective clothing and remain at least two meters away to prevent disease transmission.

“Overall the 13 people are in very good condition,” Dr Thongchai said.

All 13 would be kept in quarantine at the hospital for seven days and their health would be monitored for seven more days after being discharged.

On Wednesday, a few hundred schoolchildren gathered around Chiangrai’s Prachanukroh Hospital, their teachers led them in a chant to thank “all who came to help the mission succeed.”

President Donald Trump joined in by tweeting: ‘On behalf of the United States, congratulations to the Thai Navy SEALs and all on the successful rescue of the 12 boys and their coach from the treacherous cave in Thailand.

‘Such a beautiful moment – all freed, great job!’

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected,’ the club posted. ‘We would love to welcome the team from Wild Boars Football Club and their rescuers to Old Trafford this coming season.’

While FIFA had already invited the boys to the World Cup final in Russia this Sunday, doctors treating the boys said it was too soon for them to make the trip.

Meanwhile, Authorities this evening showed the first video clips of the 12 young footballers and their coach recuperating at Chiang Rai hospital after they were taken out of Tham Luang cave in a dramatic rescue operation.

They are seen resting on hospital beds in an isolation ward waving and showing victory sign to the camera and appear to be in high spirit. Another clip shows their families watching and waving at them through a glass window.
