Briton transferred to Chiang Rai’s Kasemrad Sriburin Hospital
He was admitted to Chiang Rai’s Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospital. The next day, he developed a high fever and was transferred to another hospital.
Governor Boonyalak said that a sample swab taken from the patient was sent to the Medical Sciences Department for further testing to confirm if it is of the Omicron variant.
Three of his American friends also sought permission to be quarantined at the US embassy in Bangkok, he said.
Four Thais have been quarantined, including three hotel employees and one pharmacy employee. Testing results have shown that they are not infected.
According to the director of Chiang Rai’s Kasemrad Sriburin Hospital, the British patient’s condition has improved and his fever has subsided. The patient appears to be in good spirits after five days of treatment.
He also said he is not worried about treating Omicron variant patients based on the previous experience he has with COVID-19 variants.
