CHIANG RAI – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is teaching farmers in Chiang Rai Province to incorporate technology in their farming practices.

The ministry hosted a technology transfer event on Saturday, at an agricultural learning center in Ban Prai Tai Community of Khun Tan district. The event was designed to get local farmers ready for the new growing season.

Chaired by Lertviroj Kowattana, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the event offered consultation services and demonstrations of farming technologies and new approaches to achieving higher farm productivity.

The learning center teaches local people to farm fish, produce economic crops such as rice, and raise cattle, while encouraging the producers to adopt chemical-free and various cost-cutting methods.

The center also serves as a platform for farmers in nearby communities to share their knowledge and successes.
