Co-op UK Launches PayPal-Based Digital Payment Option
The Co-op supermarket business in Britain has revealed that PayPal is now a new digital payment option for customers.
Through the Co-op’s online store, shop.coop.co.uk, customers can now use PayPal to pay for their groceries, click-and-collect orders, and online home delivery orders.
Customers can use the service to shop online and pay using PayPal without providing a credit card number or other personal information.
Co-op’s head of payments, Paul Fletcher, said, “We are continually looking for new ways to innovate and meet the needs of our members and customers, and developing quick, convenient, and flexible options online is a core part of our approach.
Our work with PayPal will now offer additional payment options which are simple, safe, secure and, trusted by millions of UK shoppers, offering further online choice for time-pressed consumers however they choose to shop with us.”
Managing director of PayPal UK, Vincent Belloc, said, “PayPal has 32 million active accounts in the UK, and is trusted by shoppers who buy, sell, and send money—without sharing their financial information.

Google Pay, Apple Pay, MasterCard, and Visa are additional payment methods offered through Co-op’s online store.
The convenience store chain opened an internet store in 2019 and now provides an online service through more than 2,000 outlets in localities throughout the UK.
It provides quick delivery options for neighborhood click-and-collect or home delivery.
In 2021, PayPal had around 426 million users, who used its service at least once in the year. Due to its speed and ease, PayPal proved to be a popular payment method ever since its launch.
Customers express the facility of not having to enter all of their financial details every time that they make a purchase.
