Elon Musk's TruthGPT AI Rivals OpenAI And DeepMind

(CTN News) – Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, called Tucker Carlson tonight to discuss AI technology.

Musk stated in the interview that aired Monday that he wants to launch a new AI initiative called TruthGPT because he concerns that existing AI companies are training their systems to be politically correct.

Also, Twitter’s celebrity CEO discussed his AI fears and ambitions at length, a company he acquired for $44 billion in October 2022. On Monday night, he did not discuss Tesla or SpaceX in detail during his interview with Carlson.

The second part of the series will air on Fox on Tuesday.

Regulating artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk envisions creating a regulatory agency that “initially seeks insight into AI, solicits opinions from industry, and then proposes regulations,” something similar to the Federal Aviation Administration’s approach to working with aviation companies. A set of industry-accepted rules will increase the chances of advanced AI benefiting humanity, Elon Musk argues.

“TruthGPT,” according to the billionaire and co-founder of Neuralink and The Boring Co., is the world’s most truth-seeking artificial intelligence.

Musk had previously called for a pause on AI research in a letter.

As AI systems become more human-competitive, we are faced with a dilemma: Should we allow machines to broadcast untruths and propaganda? In the letter, it was asked.

OpenAI, founded by Sam Altman and initially funded by Elon Musk, Google’s DeepMind, and other AI initiatives around the world will compete with the AI technology.

Having an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans. This is because humans are a fascinating part of the universe, Elon Musk explained on the show.

Moreover, Musk is concerned that AI is being trained to be politically correct, which is simply another way of saying things that are untrue.”

The use of Twitter in elections

Additionally, Elon Musk discussed Twitter, the social media company he acquired last year for $44 billion.

In an interview with Carlson, Musk was asked if he was surprised by the extent of Twitter’s access to intelligence agencies.

According to Musk, “I am amazed at how many regulatory agencies have access to what is going on on Twitter.” This includes DMs, or direct messages, which are not encrypted.

Law enforcement agencies in the United States have the power to subpoena a social media user’s direct messages or any other information held by a U.S. company, which is not end-to-end encrypted.

As early as next month, Musk has promised to enable encryption for Twitter’s direct messaging service.

Musk added that Twitter will play a significant role in future elections, not only domestically but internationally, as it did during President Donald Trump’s campaign and presidency.

At the time he took over Twitter, it had around 7,500 employees, Musk said Monday without providing a specific figure. “If you’re not trying to run some sort of glorified activist organization, you can really let go of a lot of people,” Musk said.

Musk has accused Twitter’s former management and technology of unfairly benefitting Democrats and left-leaning users. Prior to Musk’s takeover of Twitter, Stanford researchers had found “algorithmic amplification” of right-leaning content.
