Retrofitting of Undersea lithium Batteries in RVs

Retrofitting of Undersea lithium Batteries in RVsĀ  – Sufficient electricity and energy create more comfort when traveling.

The stronger the battery in the camper, the more independent you are from campsites, and you can stay where you like it best – with ice-cold drinks, lights, and atmospheric music.

The pre-installed batteries often do not provide the necessary power for the desired comfort. That’s why we offer you high-quality and powerfulĀ RV batteriesĀ for even more independence when traveling.

What is the advantage of a lithium battery?

Lithium-ion batteries have decisive advantages over conventional battery variants.

Classic AGM or gel batteries must be recharged at the latest after 60% of the nominal capacity has been used to avoid a significant reduction in the battery life.

This partially discharged state does not harm a lithium battery. It can be recharged at any time or stored partially discharged, and 100% of the capacity supplied can be used.

The advantages at a glance:

  • No damage from partial discharge
  • 100% of the rated capacity usable
  • High vibration resistance
  • Lightweight
  • Low self-discharge
  • Ideal for high short-term loads (e.g., maneuvering aids)

For all these reasons,Ā a 12v lithium ion batteryĀ is the number one choice today when looking for a heavy-duty caravan battery.

This is how you benefit from the premium series of lithium batteries.

As a partner for professional caravan equipment, we offer our customers a selection of high-quality lithium batteries that are characterized by maximum reliability in various areas of application.

These are the most important features of the innovative lithium-ion batteries:

Peak currents

Lithium batteries are real energy miracles. They provide peak currents of 200A continuous and 400A. As a result, the nominal capacity is never fully exhausted, which noticeably extends the battery’s life.

Full use of capacity

While conventional batteries must be recharged before half the nominal capacity is reached, you can use 100% of the specified capacity with the premium battery series.

Multi-charge mode

Thanks to the integrated multi-charge mode, you can continue to use almost all devices, such asĀ solar battery chargersĀ or solar controllers. This saves you additional costs. The manufacturer’s guarantee is retained for new vehicles.

App-based control

Lithium-ion under-seat batteries are optionally available with a 500AĀ battery monitorĀ with the shunt. This allows you to use the app to display the actual level in real-time.

High protection class

The battery housing is the neuralgic point where moisture quickly penetrates when wet. Our premium batteries are IP67-protected and can be used in humid climates without any problems.

Integrated security

Our undersea caravan batteries impress with their built-in full protection. The BMS system secures the battery and ensures it can be used safely anywhere.

More performance and sustainability with the Big Power Prismatic Cells (PPS)

There is a high-performance loss with standard batteries because many small cells are connected.

On the other hand, Premium batteries consist of fewer but larger and more powerful battery cells. More power comes out of the battery, with a higher level of safety and a longer lifespan.

Further advantages of the undersea battery at a glance:

Less space required

The battery can easily be installed under the seat and optimizes the available space. In addition, the weight is noticeably lower than with conventional or pre-installed caravan batteries.

Easy assembly

Only a small installation effort is required to convert the battery, which causes neither a lot of time nor high costs. The investment pays for itself quickly through more power and longer service life.

High security & reliability

A high level of safety characterizes the under-seat batteries with 12v lithium battery, 24v, 48v lithium ion technology.

An integrated BMS system protects the battery from overloading, deep discharge, overvoltage, and short circuits.

lithium Batteries in RVsYou know the state of charge of your battery in real-time.

How long can we stay in nature before the battery needs to be recharged? This question is answered by an app-based system that sends an accurate charge status display to your smartphone.

You get exact data about the current state of charge, the remaining battery life, and other historical data.

The information transfer takes place via Bluetooth. Even if you have multiple batteries in use, all data is sent to an app.

Another feature: You can read information and make individual settings via the app.

For example, you have the option of using this function for your further travel planning and can decide when the next charging station needs to be headed for.

Especially for undersea installation: Special solutions from Forster

Space is a valuable commodity when traveling with a caravan. We offer special undersea batteries that rely on tried-and-tested lithium-ion technology to use this space optimally.

The batteries are either under the driver’s or passenger’s seat.

You can choose between different capacities:

  • 100Ah
  • 150Ah
  • 200Ah
  • 280Ah

The under seat batteries offer you these advantages:

Integrated emergency switch

You can disconnect the battery from the caravan supply with a single click. Perfect for emergencies or winter storage of the caravan.

Accurate assembly

The shape and size of the batteries are ideal for installation in the seat console. They can be installed quickly and easily.

Change your car battery yourself.

There are only a few steps to changing the battery, but you should follow the sequence to avoid unwanted damage to the car.

Make sure the car is level, and the handbrake is on. In most models, the car battery is located under the hood at the front of the car.

Sometimes this is also protected by a cover. You can easily remove it with the right screwdriver.

There are also vehicles where the starter battery is installed in the trunk. If you can’t find the battery, look it up in your vehicle’s manual.

1st step: Remove the defective battery

Unless the battery was installed with a cover, start by removing the cables. First, the black negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

With a suitable ring wrench or open-end wrench, loosen the screw on the pole clamp of the black cable and then pull the clamp off the negative pole. Now it’s the red cable’s turn. Disconnect that too.

Now loosen the bracket that holds the battery in position. Usually, this is a metal bracket on top of the battery or a clamp on the bottom strip.

The battery can now be lifted out ā€“ be careful. Car batteries are very heavy!

2nd step: Install a new car battery

The dimensions of the new battery should match the old model so that it can easily be accommodated.

If there is dirt, such as leaves and other unwanted material, in the battery compartment, remove it before inserting the new battery.

Now insert the new car battery. It is important to ensure that the battery is installed in the correct direction, as the leads to the battery poles are tight.

Now the battery holder is attached and screwed.

3rd step: connect the car battery

First, carefully clean the connection terminals and the battery poles of adhering pole grease, dirt, and corrosion, e.g., using a wire brush.

Terminal grease and dirt do not conduct electricity and could seriously impair the electrical contact between the terminal clamps and the battery terminals.

Now the cables are connected to the new battery. However, the connection sequence is reversed to that when removing!

First, connect the red cable to the positive pole, then the black cable to the negative pole.

If you are no longer sure where the plus and minus poles are on the battery, look at the battery, there is a + and a – sign on the plastic.

In addition, the positive pole has a larger diameter, so accidentally attaching the negative cable to the positive pole is almost impossible.

After (!) tightening, some pole grease should be applied to the pole clamps and battery poles to protect against moisture and corrosion.

Finally, attach the terminal covers, which protect against short circuits.
