Do You Need a Replacement Car Clutch?

A clutch features several main parts including the clutch plate, pressure plate, and flywheel. The Car clutch engages and disengages the power transmission from the driving shaft to the drive shaft.

If the clutch is not working properly, you will notice issues in your vehicle’s performance. In some cases, you might not be able to drive the vehicle at all. Car clutches do a lot of work in your vehicle and eventually, they will need to be replaced.

Signs You Need to Replace Car Clutches

Do you find that you are having problems shifting gears with a clutch that has worked well previously? Do you have a slipping clutch?

This happens when the friction material on the clutch has worn out. Without friction, the clutch simply won’t engage correctly.

If you notice that when you release the pedal and press the gas, the vehicle moves slowly even though the engine is revving high.

Does your clutch pedal feel difficult to engage? If you find that you have to press harder and harder on the pedal, you could have a problem with the release mechanism.

Keep your ears open, as well. If you hear a grinding sound when you are shifting gears, it indicates that the clutch disc is still engaged.

The transmission input shaft will continue to spin even though the clutch pedal is depressed. This causes the grinding sound.

All of these are symptoms of a problematic clutch. If you notice any of these issues or other problems with your clutch, it’s time to get a new clutch kit.

Getting New Clutch Kits

Rather than simply taking the vehicle to the mechanic and having them take care of the replacement for you, check out some online options to purchase your own clutch kits.

You can often find some great deals on aftermarket clutches that are going to last longer and perform better than the typical stock clutches that are often used.

When buying car clutches, though, make sure you are getting the right option for your particular vehicle. Check the make, model, and year before purchasing.
