PHRAE – More than 100 pigs were killed and many more fled into the countryside when a truck delivering them to Chiang Rai crashed and overturned in Muang district on Tuesday morning.

Pol Capt Wutthichai Churattanasupanond, a duty officer at Muang police station said the incident was reported to police about 8.30am.

Driver Wichian Singsathaporn said he was transporting about 400 pigs to Chiang Rai when a car cut in front of him, he swerved to averted a collision but lost control of the truck and plunge into the roadside ditch and overturn.

Pol Capt Wutthichai Churattanasupanond dead and dying pigs were scattered everywhere and at least 100 of the animals were killed. Many of the others fled to a dubious freedom, and their fate remained uncertain.
