Tourist Bus Crashed Carrying 17 Chinese Passengers in Chon Buri

The Bus veered off the road and flipped on its side

 

CHON BURI – Bang Lamung District Police were called to an accident at  tambon Ban Pong on Highway No.36 at about 2pm, were seventeen Chinese tourists and a Thai coach driver were injured when the bus they were traveling in veered off a slippery road and flipped onto its side.

The bus, carrying seventeen Chinese tourists, was en route from Samet island off Rayong to Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden in Pattaya, when it crashed.

Most of the injured suffered bruises, but three women passengers complained of back and neck pains. All of them, including Kajornsak Puangprakone, 43, the bus driver, were sent to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

Mr Kajornsak told police it was raining hard and visibility was poor. At one point he braked to slow down and lost control of the bus when it spun off the road and overturned.

He said he moved quickly to take control and lead the tourists out of the overturned vehicle through a broken window and then called police for help

Meanwhile, a  28 year old woman was seriously injured after her car was struck by a Bangkok-bound train at an unguarded railroad crossing in Khao Yoi district on Sunday.

Police said the Bangkok-registered Honda driven by Puangpaka Kaewchainan, 28, cut in front of Bangkok-Yala express train No.170 about 300 metres from Khao Yoi train station in the morning. The car was heavily damaged by the collision and was knocked into the trackside ditch, trapping the Pathum Thani native.

Paramedics called to the scene found Puangpaka unconscious and put her on a ventilator while rushing her to hospital. The crash caused damage to the train’s locomotive.

Aumporn Timsorn, the train’s driver, told police both sides of the tracks were covered with overgrown grass and the crossing had no barrier installed. He said the car suddenly cut him off, claiming the driver drove past the track without looking to see if a train was coming.
