Three Hmong Tribesmen Caught with 600,000 Methamphetamine Pills or Yaba in Chiang Rai

Police seized 600,000 yaba pills, with an estimated street value of 200 million baht

CHIANG RAI – Pol Lt-Gen Chaiwat Chotima, chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau has in formed the news that three Hmong tribesmen – Li Sae-ma, 60, Kitar Sae-yang, 34, and Silawat Archawattanakul, 23 – and Witthawat Lae-saw, 23, from a hilltribe in Chiang Rai have been arrested.

The four drug suspects were found with 600,000 methamphetamine pills, or yaba in Chiang Rai on Sunday morning, Pol Lt-Gen Chaiwat Chotima said.

Authorities said Mr Li Sae-ma is a former member of Tambon Kirirat Administration Organisation in Tak province.

 

Police seized the 600,000 yaba pills, with an estimated street value of 200 million baht, and three pickup trucks.

 

The suspects were caught at a traffic checkpoint in Chiang Rai province and admitted that they were hired for one million baht to transport the drugs from Chiang Rai to Bangkok.

 

The Hmong tribesmen told police investigators that they spent a night at a hotel near the Chiang Rai Provincial Police Division before travelling the next morning.
