BANGKOK – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has accused a group of people ( without naming names) in attempting to destroy the Nation, by rejecting the Thai legal process and encouraging foreign organizations and governments to put pressure on Thailand.

In his weekly nation-wide address, Prayut urged the Thai public not to be misled by these elements whom he accused of trying every possible means to cover up their own wrongdoings.

He brushed aside all the criticisms against the charter draft that it was crafted by the Constitution Drafting Committee led by Meechai Ruchupan with an intention to prolong the military junta’s stay in power.

The prime minister maintained that the National Council for Peace and Order wanted to make sure that the next government would commit itself in performing what the people have wanted – that the next government is transparent, not corrupt and practice good governance.

Defending the charter draft, he said he didn’t think the draft is much different from the previous charters except for one aspect – that is the draft attaches importance to prevention of corruption and preventing the domination of the Senate and the House by the same group of people.

The prime minister went on saying that he has wanted the charter draft to pass the referendum.
