Swiss National Arrested at Phuket Airport with 9mm Bullets in his Baggage

PHUKET – Swiss National Andre Steinemann,39, was detained after an airport X-ray scanner detected two live 9mm cartridges and a magazine for a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol in his travel bag as he boarded a flight back to Europe.

Pol Col Somchai Sanprasert, chief of Tha Chat Chai police station and Pol Col Supachok Yongstar, chief of Phuket immigration checkpoint, made the formal arrest after being advised of the incident around 7pm.

Mr Steinemann failed to produce a permit to carry the ammunition when asked. He was charged with possessing ammunition without permission.

Mr. Steinemann is being held at Tha Chat Chai police station for further legal action.
