HUA HIN – A British National from Scotland has bled to death in Thailand after cutting himself on a mirror he smashed in a fit of rage.

According to local Police Iain MacKay, 40, is believed to have been severely injured kicking a mirror in a bar where his girlfriend worked.

Mr MacKay is said to have been angry that his girlfriend was talking to another man and the three of them got into an argument. Minutes later he was found in a nearby shop, bleeding profusely apparently from cuts caused by the smashed mirror.

Although paramedics arrived soon after the incident, Mr Mackay died a short while later in hospital, the exact circumstances of his death are still under investigation.

Police in Hua Hin told the Press that they believe no crime had been committed.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman in Bangkok said: ‘We can confirm the death of a British National in Hua Hin, and we are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time.
