CHIANG RAI – The Ministry of Public Health is ready to provide financial support to low-income families with newborn babies starting next month.

Permanent Secretary of Public Health Dr. Narong Sahamethapat said the scheme is aimed at assuring proper child development for babies expected to be born from October 1, 2015 – September 30, 2016.

Only families registered by a government agency as a low-income household will be entitled to 400 baht financial aid each month.

Provincial Public Health Offices across the country have been instructed to inform pregnant women, who qualify for financial assistance, from a hospital in their districts. Their names will later be submitted to a local Office of Social Development and Human Security, before the funds are disbursed.
