BANGKOK – Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has confirmed that legal action will be taken on anyone expressing opinions that could lead to unrest and instability in the country.

In an angry outburst to the press at Government House today, Gen. Prayuth warned that his regime, which seized power from the Pheu Thai-led government last May, will escalate its measures against politicians who continue to criticize his government through passport cancellations, military detention, prison terms and even “taping their mouths shut.”

“You cannot oppose me. No one will let you to do that. I hold it that I have given you many chances already,” said the general, who upon seizing power in 2014 placed a ban on protests, political activities and any kind of public challenge to his rule, the Khaosod News Reported

General Prayut Chan-o-cha referring to the detention of Mr. Karun Hosakul, said he will be primarily detained for 7 days on charges of stirring unrest in the country which is a normal term of punishment related to this kind of offense.

Former energy minister Pichai Naripthapant has broken the condition set by the military by giving public statements in a way which mislead the public to lose trust and confidence in the military regime, Colonel Winthai Suvaree, spokesman of the National Council for Peace and Order said Thursday.

Pichai said today escorted from his home by two military officers to the first army region’s headquarter for an attitude adjustment.

Colonel Winthai said the military officers would try to talk Mr Pichai to change his attitude with the military junta. He added that he didn’t know how long it would take as it would depend on Pichai’s cooperation and the discretion of the authorities concerned.

Army Commander-in-Chief General Udomdej Seetabutr, meanwhile, said briefly that he expected the attitude adjustment might take seven days. “There is nothing much. It is about difference in opinions,” he added.
